  • UK based Home Civil Service departments and their executive agencies.
  • UK based Non-Departmental Public Bodies - Other agencies and Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs).
  • UK Public Sector - The devolved administrations, regional assemblies and local authorities at any levels.
  • Other bodies - Those private organisations that deal with protectively marked information on behalf of government organisations.

The Code of Connection defines the policy, procedural and technical controls that need to be implemented in order to join and stay connected to the secure GCSx network.The basic steps for new entrants are:

  1. A gap analysis of their systems against the CoCo
  2. A logical and prioritised action plan to comply with the CoCo (where gaps exist)
  3. An annual Audit of their security systems

To become compliant, members are required to meet a minimal acceptable level of controls and to show substantial progress against their action plan at regular intervals.Orthus can help streamline the process by leveraging our vast experience and proven fast track programme.The Criminal Justice Community (CJC)The Criminal Justice Community standards for connection are similar in nature and intent to those for connecting the the GCSx network and involves regular assessment that appropriate measure are being taken to address information security risks.These measures are typically selected from international standards for best practice (ISO 27002) and various HMG Information Assurance requirements and boadly cover the following areas:

  • Technical – Such as performing an IT Health Check and implementing Intrusion Detection Capabilities;
  • Procedural – Such as ensuring that all users accounts are decommisioned when staff leave.
  • Physical – Such as ensuring all areas where senstive information or systems are housed are secure.
